For this week’s instalment of our 992 GT3 RS Project, we wanted to talk about our plans for the wheels, tyres and brakes.
Starting with wheels, the wonderful team at Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield delivered a set of the all new OEM 992 GT3 RS Magnesium wheels to us at JCR HQ. The wheels in question have been delivered in a lovely satin black finish, however, this won’t be the case for much longer (Spec hint)
We've always loved this wheel design, similar to that of the BBS Fi-R, a wheel that we’ve ran a number of our cars over the years.
The OEM Magnesium wheels will be wrapped in a full set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 connect N0 tyres. With Porsche having multiple tyre partners and therefore the car potentially arriving on one of three brands of tyre, we wanted to ensure that from the moment the car arrives it’s running our preferred tyre of choice.
As fantastic as other tyres may be, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 is a tyre that we know extremely well. Having covered thousands of miles on and off track on these tyres, we know what we’re getting when it comes to both road and track performance. 
We do also plan to run the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyre on the car however within 2 weeks of the car arriving, we will have completed 3 days on track as well as thousands of miles around the UK and Europe, so banking on perfect weather for the Cup 2R isn't something we wanted to risk.
On to the brakes. As with our last seven development cars, we will be swapping out the factory PCCB brake disks and pads for something a little more track-biased than the factory PCCB setup. Swapping the car over onto Surface Transform Carbon Ceramic Brakes is a no-brainer for us. 
The overall braking performance, temperature management and wear characteristics of the Surface Transforms brake disc offers are only some of the reasons as to why we’ve opted to run these brakes on all of our cars for so long. Paired with a Pagid RSC-1 brake pad we really struggle to find a better option for a serious track day car. 
We’re also going to be doing something slightly different this time. On taking delivery of the brake disks from the team at Surface Transforms, we removed the brake bells and sent them off to be Nickel plated. This is one of many finishing touches which will tie in the overall look of the car.
On top of this, we have also purchased a second set of brake callipers to send to our good friends Brake Calliper Refurbs for a number of small upgrades and refinishing.
